Thanksgiving Day
HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!!!
Today we are celebrating Thanksgiving Day.
Students of ESO (1º to 4º) have learnt today what that date means for people all around the world. It takes place on the fourth Thursday of November mostly in America and Canada. This celebration often extends to the weekend where people meet and carve a turkey for dinner. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations.
Historically, Thanksgiving had roots in religious and cultural tradition. Today, Thanksgiving is primarily celebrated as a secular holiday.
Tomorrow we will celebrate Black Friday, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Although it is not an official holiday, most shopping centres open this day early and offer promotional sales as it is the busiest shopping day of the year.
